Saturday
This was the site that met us Saturday morning! Does it get any better? The man is just to handsome for his own good.
The course for the day was The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. It was actually located in North Carolina right near Asheville. Once again it was extremely windy. The grounds were beautiful and the crowds although larger than Thursday were not as bad as Friday. David was in rare form, quite the gentleman in fact. He came up behind ShirleyR and fiddled with her hat. He told her the band in the back was twisted, and that he fixed it. I am not sure, but I don't think her feet touched the ground the rest of the day. Leaving the same hole, I heard a man ask about Boston. David said he didn't attend. That he had messed up his knee.

Okay - it's naughty, but if he's gonna bend over right in front of us... what do you expect us to do... look the other way??
Sue: In my own defense I did wait a few seconds before I took this picture thinking he would stand up. But when he didn't "what is a girl going to do?" I took the shot.
Alrighty then... moving on ...

He looked so smart in the sweater vest. It however was not agreeing with him. He tugged at it for the first few holes and then finally took it off. Now that was fun! The best part was watching him fold it. Boy, his mother or Nanci one, sure trained him well! Look how nicely he folded that sweater!
His caddy carried it under his arm for awhile after that and then put it in the golf bag, but hey, David at least folded it!
David's foot was really bothering him today. We had seen him slip his shoe off the other two days and stretch his foot and toes (video below) but today it seemed a bit more intense.

watch a video from Friday of David stretching his foot.
Boys will be boys!!!
Remember the story of the cigar or apple on the tee marker? Well here David had both! It is interesting to compare... sometimes he would flick the cigar with a total disregard for where it landed and other times, like this, he was very careful as he would balance the items on the model car. There's a story there....
The crowd was a nice crowd. Everyone was so talkative today. One elderly gentleman was extremely friendly and such a huge fan. He loved the character of Harm! At one hole after David made a pretty bad shot, he caught up to him, David was standing sideways to the rope looking at the ground.
The gentleman just started speaking, not really getting David's attention first. He said "Great actors, do not have to be great golfers, and you son, are a great actor" From where I was standing I couldn't see David's face but he raised his head and looked at the man and said "What did you say?" The man repeated himself, word for word, and David reached out his hand to shake the man's hand and said "Thank you!" David was so moved I almost cried for him. I asked the man if he would like a picture with David and he said "Yes!" then at the next hole when we got David's attention and the man was as nervous as all us. He almost backed out! David waved him over ... so sweet!
I actually took a couple other pictures for fans and then Sue finally decided
she did want a picture with *both* sides of her face. We asked David and he kindly stopped. When I finished this time, he looked at me like he was waiting for something. So I said "I can do it now... I read the instructions" He laughed and said "That's good." (Smart A**!!)
One last story to tell, that is really funny - hope I can get it across. David had a really bad tee off. (This is the shot right before the gentleman above spoke to David.) Typically, when the last person tees off, the group waits for a minute to see where the balls land and then they take off. The caddy is typically right there to take the club. This time was no different except David's caddy wasn't there like usual, the score keeper was. David must have felt his presence but didn't realize it wasn't his caddy because he put out the club for the man to take. Which he did. David didn't even have his hand totally off the club when he realized that it wasn't his caddy and he spun and saw his error. The look of horror on his face was priceless. He looked skyward as if to say ... Take me now ... He was so embarrassed, he tried to take the club but the score keep was having none of that. So they played a little game of 'tug of war' and everyone started laughing. The score keep clapped David on the back smiling, and went on his way and David just hung his head. The pro walking with David was in stitches. David would look up at him and just shake his head and the pro would laugh more.
So, the day was winding quickly to an end and I realized I had never had my picture taken with David so I started watching for my opportunity. It never really came. At the 18th hole the crowd was humongous so even though I did try it was not to be. Talk about bummed! We went to the clubhouse (actually a tent) as usual but No David. He usually arrived about the same time as we did. We had been there about 10 minutes when he finally walked in.
After giving him ample time to eat, (he is sitting at the table next to ours with his caddy, Rich, Unc, and Rich's caddy) I walked over and ask if I could get some group photos and my picture. I said, "I've taken everyone else's but mine". They all nodded 'yes' and then a waitress interrupted asking David for a picture. She didn't have a camera, so I offered to take her picture. (She was going to use her phone.) After, that another waitresses, and the then the kitchen staff.
Finally, he came back to the table where we were and Rich says, you up for just a few more?
David said sure so I took a picture of him and Rich and then him with his caddy.
When I finished with them I say "So, is it my turn, finally" David said "Get over here". I hand off my camera to Rich and go stand next to David. He starts putting on his glove. And... he takes his sweet time about it too, pulling, tugging, twisting - I know driving gloves are skin tight but this is ridiculous!. I'm thinking, it's okay - I'll stand here just as long as you want me too, LOL! He finishes and says "Let's do it" and puts his arm around my shoulders - well, I grabbed his waist like there was no tomorrow! After Rich took the picture,
Sue took one as well.
Then David said "Can I go now?" laughing. (He had told us prior to this that he was meeting Matt-one of the pros at the driving range.) Sue pipes up and says "No". (When did she become so brave?) She walks over to David and says, " After 3 days of walking golf courses, I deserve to have my hat signed" David chuckled and said "You got a lot of exercise, for sure". He signed her hat, we all said goodbye and he was off.
Gone.
Sigh.
Thanks David for 3 glorious days.
