As most know, spectators are asked not to approach the players while they’re playing. But on one hole David had just finished putting and a pro was just getting ready to putt when a woman shouted his name from the gallery like she had just spotted him (delayed reaction, I guess). He motioned with his finger to hush, and finished up. At the end she screamed for him again and he came over and signed an autograph. He made his way back to the group and as he approached he was overheard saying “Dang.” When you watch the video below, close to the end, you will see David put his finger to his mouth as if to say "shhh" .
One fun thing about walking in a gallery like this is all the people you meet. People just start up conversations and it is really nice. After one of David's particularly good shots, a gentleman in the gallery said to me, "It's a joy to watch a celebrity that actually knows how to swing a club." Too bad David didn't hear - I think he would have been flattered.
At the final hole for the day, we were definitely ready for the day to be over. It had been a long day. Looking forward to lunch and the bar I had already made my way around the hole. Realizing David was getting ready to putt I moved in by the fence a bit. Thank goodness I did because I met ShirleyR! She was there with her daughter. After exchanging Hello's ... here comes David. Shirley stopped him and I took her picture with him. Her daughter told him it was Shirley's birthday and he gave her a big "Well, Happy Birthday!"
Well, the flood gates were opened and David was swarmed so we told Shirley we would see her at the Walk of Fame and headed for the clubhouse.
What a day!
