The Climb
This 1987 Canadian movie was based on the true story of the 1953 assault on Nanga Parbat by a German team. Nanga Parbat, a treacherous ice-covered and avalanche-dangerous Himalayan Peak, had already claimed 31 lives. DJE (as David Elliott) played Otto Kempter, one of the younger climbers on the team. Bruce Greenwood played Hermann Buhl, the daring mountaineer who finally conquered it.
