JAG: Death Watch
Airdate: March 31, 1998.
The Powers That Be (TPTB) fell behind in their production schedule, and bought back the Season One episode Skeleton Crew, for this episode. They used the unaired footage from Skeleton Crew and scripted a storyline around it. The Skeleton Crew footage was shown in black and white, as flashbacks.
In the original Skeleton Crew, the very close friendship between Harm and Diane was platonic. One of the suspects in the murder was her roommate and, suggested lover, Lt. Sara Williams.
In the Death Watch version, it is two years after the murder of his academy classmate, girlfriend, and the woman Harm loved and planned to marry, LT. Diane Schonke. Harm finds evidence of the real killer's identity among her old letters, and is determined to act on it. Mac sees her strong resemblance to her, when working on a case at Harm's apartment, and hears Diane's story for the first time. Harm then tricks Mac into staying behind, as he goes to confront the murderer. To prevent this, Mac enlists Bud's help in finding and stopping Harm, with startling results.
