Première Episode: First Day, 1986

The Campbells was a half-hour series about a Canadian pioneer family. DJE (as David Elliott), played a homeless simpleton named Hardy. Hardy lived with old Mrs. Johnston. When she died, Hardy stayed on even though the homestead was sold to the Campbells. As the new owners arrive to take up possession, their malevolent neighbour, who had wanted the homestead for himself, scares Hardy with the threat that the Campbells would make him "go away". Poor Hardy vandalizes the Campbells' homestead to try to make them "go away". Then the youngest Campbell boy makes friends with Hardy, and the Campbells offer him a home with them until young Mr. Johnston can come for him.
