JAG...Where We Left Off...
TV Guide Sept. 20, 2003

A plane carrying Mac (Catherine Bell) and Harm (David James Elliott) crashed. Now that the two stars have signed up for at least another season, expect their characters to survive.
A Time For Change: Entering its ninth season, JAG has weathered stiff competition from some of TV's hottest shows, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and American Idol. Now, after staying the course for years on Tuesday nights, JAG is passing the torch to spin-off Navy NCIS, starring Mark Harmon.
Thinning the Ranks: Admiral's assistant Jason Tiner; played by Chuck Carrington, will be leaving for officer school for the year and might return next season. Gunny Galindez (Randy Vasquez) is shipping off to Iraq, and pregnant Harriett Sims (Karri Turner) will be seen in fewer episodes. "She'll be spending less time in JAG and more time being a mom," says executive producer Donald P. Bellisario. Petty Officer Coates (Zoe McLellan) will get more face time to fill the void.
Mystery Solved: Harm, who resigned his commission in the season ender, will receive a chilly welcome from the admiral upon his return to JAG headquarters. As for the seven-year tease between Mac and Harm, Bellisario says: "Let's put it this way. At the end of the opening episode, the audience will understand, as will Mac and Harm, why they have not gotten together."
Matt Roush's Take: Though it may not achieve its Tuesday ratings highs on a night with fewer viewers, JAG should jump-start CBSs Friday fortunes. Fans will follow the show anywhere.
