By Kevin Dickson, TV Guide, (Canada), July 1-7, 2000Canada has always been well-represented on the American prime-time schedule. Lorne Greene was the patriarch of Bonanza. William Shatner saved the universe on Star Trek - with a little help from James Doohan. And then, of course, there's Michael J. Fox. Currently, though, more Canadians than ever before are stars on U.S. TV. To wit:
David James Elliott
After first coming to fame as Alison's sex-addicted rehab boyfriend on Melrose Place, Toronto-born Elliott nabbed the starring role in JAG as Lt.-Cmdr. Harmon Rabb Jr. (Harm for short). After poor ratings saw the show cancelled by its original network, JAG, in its new home, slowly but steadily built an audience, becoming a genuine hit in its fourth year. "I love that about the show," he says. "It keeps it interesting. But I think it hindered the show a little in the beginning because it was tough for people to put a finger on what it was. That, and getting over the prejudice to it being a military show. People going, 'Aaah, I don't like military shows.' When, in fact, it's more than just that."Click on the picture for the full-sized image.
